The fastest way to get content indexed by Google

There are a couple of possible reasons why Google is slow when spidering your site. The first might seem obvious: if Google doesn’t find enough (quality) links pointing to your site, it doesn’t think your site is very important. The other reasons are technical: it has too much to crawl on your site, your site is too slow, or it’s encountering too many errors.

A part of SEO is to make sure Google can crawl your website and index all your primary pages. Google is sometimes picky about what pages on a site it will index.

It usually takes some time for the Googlebot to crawl your site for new content to index, but let’s say you want to speed up that process. Is it possible to get Google to index your website any quicker?

The process of going from website to website and discovering new and updated content is called crawling, while indexing refers to the processing of information and documents gathered by Googlebot during crawling. If the processed information is determined to be of quality, it’s added to Google’s searchable index.

As the Googlebot crawls web pages, it detects new content and links, adding them to the list of pages to be crawled. A list of website URLs from previous crawl processes serves as a starting point of a crawl, which is then augmented with sitemap data submitted by webmasters. Therefore, the two important elements in finding new indexable content on the web is through sitemaps and links.

get content indexed

Here we discuss some of the ways you can attract the Googlebot to your content. But first, let’s clarify the difference between crawling and indexing is, and let’s see what Googlebot is.

Submit URL to Search Console

If you have a new website, you can sign in to Google Search Console and although Google does not guarantee that all submitted URLs will be added to the index or when it will appear in their index, it certainly doesn’t dissuade anyone from submitting URLs to Search Console (“If you have a new URL, tell us about it here.”)

In Search Console you can even see how often Google is crawling your page by clicking on Crawl -> Crawl Stats. The higher the crawl rate, the better.

Install Google Analytics

This step may not directly make your new website discoverable by Googlebot, but it might put your site on the map of discoverable new sites. In any event, you’ll want to install Google Analytics for tracking and SEO purposes anyway.

Social Bookmarking

Indexation grade: A

Social bookmarks are links from highly crawled sites like StumbleUpon, Diigo and Reddit.

If you’ve got your own accounts, use these. If not, use Rank Crew. They provide 30 social bookmarks for $4 and 50 for $5.

The bookmarks are 100 times better than Fiverr gigs and they’re not spammed to death with garbage sites.

Google+

Indexation grade: A

Google+ is the fastest and easiest platform to get your backlinks indexed.

I use my personal Google+ profile to index about 50% of my site’s backlinks

Ping-O-Matic

Indexation grade: C

Ping-O-Matic that sends “pings” to search engines to notify them that your blog has been updated.

It’s a great tool because it’s fast, free and easy to use but results vary. It generally takes 3 – 7 days for links to be indexed with this tool.

Create a Google+ profile and share your content publicly for every newest content

It is not a secret that it’s a priority for Google to index its social network first so it may be useful to create a Google+ profile and submit a few references to your newly created website there to let Google know about it as soon as possible.

Optimize your website

In order to simplify and speed up the crawling process, it is necessary to keep your website fast, clean-coded and optimized. If you are running your website on the WordPress platform, check this tutorial on how to optimize your WordPress website.

Update your website constantly and let search engines know about it

It is necessary to update your website with new posts and references on a constant basis and inform the search engines about these updates to keep the indexed information about your website fresh and up-to-date.

In order to let Google know about your newly created post or page, you can use Fetch as Google option in Webmaster Tools:
